Let's HEAR it for a great novel!!!

That's right. More and more people are loving the freedom and ease of HEARING a story. Audiobooks have really taken off, and most publishers these days provide one for their authors. Since I am an independently published author, my books are not yet available in this format. However, I am hoping the day will come when I'm able to provide my readers with this option.

I've had readers tell me how much they love listening to an audiobook on the way to work while driving or riding public transportation. It's relaxing, takes them to fictional and intriguing places, and takes their mind off of the ordinary. Visually impaired people benefit, as well as the elderly.

I'd love hearing from my readers about audiobooks. Do you prefer them to print copies or Kindle versions? Let me know in the space below the blog page. It's certainly something I'd be interested in exploring for my books.

This week, I'm delighted to share the work of Lise Mayne from beautiful Alberta! I cannot help but be a little envious of where she lives, as my husband and I have been there numerous times and love this province's wide-open spaces.

Though Canada abounds in natural wonders, winters there can be harsh. In the early 1900's, when Euphemia--Lise's protagonist-- arrives there, I'm sure it seemed like a rugged, frightening wilderness. Scroll down and take a look at how you can LISTEN IN on one family's adventure, as they change countries at the turn of the 20th century. And if you prefer to hold a book in hand, you can order it, as well as the audio version.

And welcome to Brook's Journal, Lise. I hope this will be the first of many visits!

Read ON, everybody!

ALL ABOUT THE STORY

A determined mother. A loyal son. An unforgettable journey.

When Euphemia and her family leave the rugged Isle of Man in search of a better life, they carry little more than hope, determination, and an unbreakable bond with one another. Their journey takes them across continents—from the windswept shores of Britain to the forests of Ontario and the vast prairie landscapes of Saskatchewan—where every new beginning demands sacrifice.

Through hardship, heartbreak, unexpected love, and the relentless challenges of frontier life, generations of one family discover that courage is often quiet, and home is something built one day at a time.

Richly researched and inspired by true family history, Time Enough is an unforgettable historical novel celebrating resilience, tradition, and the enduring strength of ordinary people who accomplished extraordinary things.

Perfect for listeners who enjoy emotionally rich historical fiction, multigenerational family sagas, and stories that linger long after the final chapter.

Spanning continents and generations, Time Enough follows a courageous woman and her eldest son as they leave the Isle of Man behind, chasing a future across the Atlantic. From bustling Michigan to the rugged beauty of Manitoulin Island and the vast plains of Saskatchewan, they battle loss, betrayal, and the hard truths of survival in an unforgiving new world. As their past clings tight and the future demands sacrifice, one question endures: What does it take to finally feel at home?

Lise Mayne delivers a sweeping, emotionally charged novel for fans of The NightingaleThe Book of Negroes, and The Giver of Stars — a story of grit, heart, and the enduring power of family.

Thank you so much Brook! The son doesn’t arrive in Alberta until the very end, after a three-decade journey! So many hardships, unexpected allies and betrayals along the way. I’m so glad you’ve been to Alberta, my home. It’s true that it’s very beautiful with many wild places. I’m proud to be on your blog and I will follow you!

Sending Rocky Mountain bluebird hugs!
